Misal Pav is a popular dish from Maharashtra, India. It consists of misal and pav. The final dish is topped with farsan or sev, onions, lemon and coriander. It is usually served with bread. I usually prepare this recipe on weekend as a change in recipe and wait for the next weekend for this recipe . Excite to share this recipe . Do try and share your experience.
Ingredients :
For pressure cooking :
- * Matki (sprouts) - 2 cups
- * Turmeric powder - 1/4 tsp
- * Salt as per required
- * Water - 1 cup
For Masala Grinding:
- * Oil - 2 tsp
- * Ginger garlic paste - 1/2 spoon
- * Onion -1
- * Tomato - 1
- * Dry coconut - 1/4 cup grated
- * Water - 1
Other Ingredients:
- * Oil - 2 tsp
- * Mustard - 1spoon
- * Jeera - 1 tsp
- * Curry leaves - 1
- * Red chilly powder - 1 spoon
- * Turmeric powder - 1/4 spoon
- * Coriander seeds- 1 spoon
- * Garam masala - 1spoon
- * Small piece jaggery (1 inch)
- * Salt - 1/4 spoon
- * 5 cup water (depends on Consistency )
For Serving :
- Farsan - 1 cup
- Onion - 1/2 cup
- Coriander leaves - 2 spoons
- Bread - 5
- Lemon - 1/2
Instruction for cooking :
* Take a large kadai, put oil in it when oil is heated mustard when it starts spluttering , add jeera , curry leaves .
* Add turmeric powder, red chilly powder, garam masala , mix it well ,see that dry masala are not burned and keep on low flame till spices turn aromatic.
* Now add in prepared masala paste and mix well.
* Cook till the oil is released from masala paste.
* Add in cooked sprout matki , small piece jaggery and salt. Give a good mix.
* Also add 5 cup water and adjust consistency.
* Cover one lid and boil for 10 minutes or till misal is cooked completely.
* Once the misal is cooked, oil starts to float indicating misal is ready.
* In a serving plate, take misal gravy add some farsan over it , top with chopped onions and coriander leaves over it.
* Finally, serve misal with bread and lemon .
